It’s time to celebrate, your braces are off! Let’s make sure to keep your teeth straight and beautiful. Once your braces are removed, Dr. Bret will create custom retainers for you to wear. Wearing retainers is one of the most important phases of your orthodontic treatment. Your teeth have a tendency to want to move back to their original positions after your braces are removed. To prevent this from happening, retainers must be worn as prescribed! Lucky for you, we use the most advanced technology on the market to ensure your teeth maintain their final position as best as possible!
The iTero Element Digital Impression system allows our office to provide virtually impression free orthodontic treatment! This system eliminates tray and putty impressions which can take up to six minutes to set up in your mouth. Our system allows us to scan your teeth in no more than three minutes. From this scan, we create precise retainers and Invisalign aligners that fit your teeth perfectly.
Not only is this system more patient friendly, it also ensures a more accurate model and provides a more comfortable patient experience. Our patients watch first hand as their models are generated on screen as we scan.
The iTero element is an intraoral scanner that captures 6000 frames per second! The optical technology allows us to continuously scan your gums and teeth with a small hand-held wand. Your scan is immediately displayed on the screen; which means you see what we do, this allows for significantly improved chairside communication.
The radiation-free laser scans your mouth in under three minutes and creates a digitally rendered, 3D impression of your teeth and gums. The software allows you to watch as we scan and develop a 3D model of teeth on the screen.
Retention is for LIFE! Once your braces are removed we recommend you wear your retainer full time for two months. Following that, we recommend you wear retainers every night…for LIFE! Your retainers are your insurance policy to protect the investment you just made in your smile. So… Wear your retainers, smile bright and smile long!
It’s important to keep your retainers clean. When you take them out in the morning, brush them carefully with your toothbrush, toothpaste or soap as directed to remove any plaque.
A well-fitting retainer is key to maintaining your smile, please bring your retainers with you to all appointments once your braces are removed. We will be happy to check them to ensure they are fitting properly.
