6 Tips to Help You Get the Most Out of Your Braces

If you’re one of the millions of people wearing braces, you know that sometimes they can be uncomfortable. But they’re also worth it because when they’re done, your smile will look amazing. Here are six tips to help you make the most of your Invisalign braces and get them off as quickly as possible.

1. Rinse Your Invisalign Braces Daily

It may seem like common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t clean their Invisalign braces every day. You should rinse them in lukewarm water before putting them in your mouth. If you eat something, make sure to rinse your mouth afterward, too. This reduces the risk of bacteria building up, leading to cavities, gum disease, and other problems.

2. Visit Your Orthodontist Regularly

Even though you want to spend as little time with your Invisalign braces as possible, it’s important that you still schedule regular appointments. Your orthodontist will make sure everything is going smoothly and let you know if there are any changes to make or problems to address. Given that it takes more than ten years to become a certified orthodontist, according to Colgate.com, you can guarantee they know what they’re doing.

3. Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day

In addition to rinsing your Invisalign braces daily, you also need to brush your teeth at least twice a day. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush and water or mouthwash that contains fluoride. This will ensure you remove all of the build-up from your teeth and gums. It’ll also help prevent tooth decay.

4. Do Not Bite or Chew on Your Invisalign Braces

This is very important. When you’re wearing your Invisalign braces, do not bite or chew on them in any way. You could cause damage to the trays or break them. This could also damage your teeth and lead to more problems.

5. Avoid Foods With Sharp Edges

While you’re wearing your Invisalign braces, you should avoid eating foods with sharp edges. These include hard candy, licorice, chips, nuts, and other similar snacks. These can rub against the trays of your braces and cause damage. Stick with soft foods that are easy to chew.

6. Wear Your Braces for the Recommended Number of Hours

You should always wear your Invisalign braces for the recommended number of hours each day. Your orthodontist will give you a specific time, but generally speaking, the more hours per day you wear them, the better results you’ll see.

If you want to get the most out of your Invisalign braces and make sure that they’re doing what they should be, then stick with these six tips. Good luck, and we hope you enjoy a great smile soon!
